General Conference Donuts April 2010

As is tradition, we bought donuts for breakfast Saturday morning before our Church's bi-annual Conference.
Not only is it fun to eat donuts, but I get a photo every six months of how the kids have all grown.

Chomp. Chomp.
It's funny to see what the kids order--it's almost always the same thing.
Ryanne always orders a maple bar.
Elias always gets a donut with pink frosting (why?).
Leah can never decide.
Mckay gets whatever he can that is big--
usually a chocolate bar or a maple bar.
Dad gets a cinnamon claw and mom gets a jelly-filled.

Mckay is 10.5
Ryanne is a month shy of 12.
Leah has just turned 8.
Ellias is 5.5
Dad is cute.

Silly heads!

Our Family Pets

We have two cats.
I went to pick up a kitten for Ryanne's 10th birthday.  The lady had two left and I was a sucker and took both.  Besides, Leah really wanted one!
We keep them in at night so they don't become coyote fodder.

The one on the left is Pepper.  She was given to Leah and Leah named her.  However, she refused to sleep with Leah and always wanted to play with Ryanne.   She is proud, independent, and an excellent hunter.  She is the alpha cat and rules the roost.
The one on the right is Princess.  She was Ryanne's cat and Ryanne named her.  However, it soon became apparent that she would only sleep with Leah. She is gentle, docile, lazy, and very sociable.  She begs for attention and always wants to be in the room with people.
It is so interesting to us that the cats chose their owners.  It is interesting how their names fit their personalities so well.  Most of all, it is interesting to see how similar these cats temperaments and qualities resemble that of their owners!

This is "Rosy" the Chilean Rose-Haired Tarantula.
She is Mckay's pet.  She is not aggressive, and allows us to hold her.
She has grown quite a bit in the 9 months we've had her.  She likes to eat crickets and other insects.  She really likes to eat very small baby lizards if we can catch them for her.  She has molted once and is quite a hit with Mckay's friends.  Also, she is very low maintenance--a good pet quality for Mckay!

And Last, but not least, here is Nutmeg.
She is a miniature lop.  The kids got her for Easter from Mimi and Papa (because Mommy wanted her).
She is easily a favorite.  Wes loves her.  She is so soft and loves to be held.  She likes to hop around the house or yard and the kids spend time each day playing with her.  I think Leah loves her best of all, but it is a close tie between her and mommy (the latter can be found hugging her and burying her face in Nutmeg's fuzzy side for comfort)!

Cute Boy and Bunny.

Fuzzy Boy; Fuzzy Bunny.

Is she strangling it?!

Hopping in the yard.

Leah's 8th B-Day Party

Leah had a birthday party.  She loved planning it.  She planned all the games herself.  She planned the food.  She planned the guest list.  She is a real planner!  She has a lot of plans for her life.  For example, she wants to be a ballerina, archaeologist, farmer, and mother.  Here she is having fun with her friends at her party.

Rebecca, Emma, Avery, and Mia came to play with Leah.

Ryan came too.  Other boys had been invited,
but Ryan was the only one to show up.
 Poor Ryan!
He didn't want to be in the "girl" picture,
so we had to take one of him by himself!

Some of the games Leah planned included:
Marshmallow marksmanship, water balloon toss,
water balloon fight, and  throwing wet sponges at a target.

Leah was the target.
This was the alternate form of
birthday spankings!

After that we planted flowers in Leah's garden.
She wanted a flower from each of
her friends in her own little garden.

Becca chose purple.

Mia picked red.

Here they are beautifying the soil.

Ryan didn't want to plant flowers.
That was too girly.
He got to play ball with Mckay and Ryanne.

Then we took turns on the swings.

Time for brownies and ice cream!

Avery is cute with her balloon.

PRESENTS!

Big present!
A new dress from Ryan!

Yeah! I love my presents!

But mostly I love my friends!

Leah's Birthday--Presents at Mimi's House

We went to Mimi and Papa's house for General Conference.
Since it was also Leah's birthday, she got a few presents from family.

"Can I open it? Can I open it?!"

"Oh fine, you win.  I will wait for you to take the picture first."

"OH!  What pretty dolls!  Thank you Aunty Raroo!"

Jordan Hug.

"What can this be?
Wait, I think I know . . . "

"Money!  Wow! Twenty dollars.
Oh boy am I going shopping now!"

"I can't believe it!  I'm rich!"

Thank you Papa and Mimi.
