Our Family Pets

We have two cats.
I went to pick up a kitten for Ryanne's 10th birthday.  The lady had two left and I was a sucker and took both.  Besides, Leah really wanted one!
We keep them in at night so they don't become coyote fodder.

The one on the left is Pepper.  She was given to Leah and Leah named her.  However, she refused to sleep with Leah and always wanted to play with Ryanne.   She is proud, independent, and an excellent hunter.  She is the alpha cat and rules the roost.
The one on the right is Princess.  She was Ryanne's cat and Ryanne named her.  However, it soon became apparent that she would only sleep with Leah. She is gentle, docile, lazy, and very sociable.  She begs for attention and always wants to be in the room with people.
It is so interesting to us that the cats chose their owners.  It is interesting how their names fit their personalities so well.  Most of all, it is interesting to see how similar these cats temperaments and qualities resemble that of their owners!

This is "Rosy" the Chilean Rose-Haired Tarantula.
She is Mckay's pet.  She is not aggressive, and allows us to hold her.
She has grown quite a bit in the 9 months we've had her.  She likes to eat crickets and other insects.  She really likes to eat very small baby lizards if we can catch them for her.  She has molted once and is quite a hit with Mckay's friends.  Also, she is very low maintenance--a good pet quality for Mckay!

And Last, but not least, here is Nutmeg.
She is a miniature lop.  The kids got her for Easter from Mimi and Papa (because Mommy wanted her).
She is easily a favorite.  Wes loves her.  She is so soft and loves to be held.  She likes to hop around the house or yard and the kids spend time each day playing with her.  I think Leah loves her best of all, but it is a close tie between her and mommy (the latter can be found hugging her and burying her face in Nutmeg's fuzzy side for comfort)!

Cute Boy and Bunny.

Fuzzy Boy; Fuzzy Bunny.

Is she strangling it?!

Wes let you have a tarantula? I thought he didn't like the one you had during college.

Wait, what? Did you just say Wes loves her? Are you kidding or serious? What are you doing to that man!?

Wes is a changing man. Just don't tell him I said that. He doesn't like to admit it!
He doesn't like the spider, although he does like to look at it from a distance, which is a big improvement. Mckay and I snuck it in the house. The condition is that it NEVER come s out of the cage when Wes is home or he gets to squish it.
And yes, he really does love the rabbit. He likes soft, quiet things. Amazing isn't it?
