We love to take the short drive up to Crestline to visit Mimi and Papa. It is a place of warm welcome, a haven of rest to the body and soul, and an abode of laughter. It is here we find a yard full of treasures, a bubbling creek to wet our feet, a warm hearth on a winter's day, shelves filled with delicious books, and two of the most delightsome people there ever was to keep company with. Leah says to mention that there is also Champ (the dog).
Going to my parents' home is a refuge from the world.
Papa and Mckay talk together.
Mckay has questions and Papa has answers.
Mckay likes to talk to Papa about anything and everything.
My dad is patient to hear him out and answer his queries.

We are not sure what Elias is guilty of,
but definitely something.
And Papa is plotting mischief too, it seems.
Now we are outside building a
giant teeter-totter.
It is fun to work outside together on a project.
This is no ordinary teeter-totter.
It goes waay up--over my head.
It is big enough for us adults to play on.
Well, it has to be-- you know if it's in the yard
you can't keep us big kids off of it,
so better build to withstand!
Even Mimi has fun building.
She likes projects like this.
She likes making things for us kids
and grand kids to enjoy.
I am so happy to see her out her standing
and walking and working away!
It wasn't that long ago we all wondered
if she would be able to stand again.
Wes is helping out with a little power drill muscle.
Ryanne and Mckay are watching with interest
and helping out whenever they can.
They will be our teeter-totter-testers.

Ahhh--here is the reason Leah came--
Champ the adorable puppy.
And here is Leah!
She and Mckay have always been
the best of playmates.
Now Mckay and Ryanne are scouting
out the branches in the Bay tree.
We all want to build a tree house up here somewhere.
Maybe that will be our next project.
And where is Elias?
Of course, he is playing with the hatchet.
And the iron rod.
How long do you think it will take him to split this stump?
This is definitely one reason
I love coming up here.
My boys get to be boys.
They do things here with Papa they wouldn't get anywhere else.
Like learning to split wood and lay a fire in the fireplace with it.
I love it and so do they.
Is Leah inventing some kind of dance with this rod?
