Holes
My sister, Aurora, suggested my kids read the book "Holes" by author Louis Sachar. So she loaned it to me before we left on our trip and I have been reading it to the kids in the car as we drive. We are all enjoying it very much. Elias gets a little agitated when we are reading about scary spotted lizards or death. He doesn't like thinking about pain, suffering, or blood--it freaks him out. The rest of the kids like to throw out their guesses of how the story will turn out. Ryanne is great at analyzing theme and meanings from stories. I love to read to the kids as we drive, it is the best thing to do in the car. Sometimes I will read for two hours, or until my throat is so raspy I can no longer go on!
